Death and violence continues ...

So, at the risk of sounding like Nicholas Kristof who increasingly seems to report on nothing but the macabre, here are some recent developments from some of the geopolitical hotspots where the US has some serious involvement:

• A bomb attack on the last day of a major mourning ceremony in Iraqkilled 41 Shiite pilgrims and wounded more than 140 on Friday in an atrocity blamed on Al-Qaeda and Saddam Hussein loyalists.
• Two bombs in the Pakistani city of Karachi have killed at least 25 people and injured more than 50.
• A motorcycle bomb struck a crowd watching a dog fight Friday in southern Afghanistan, killing at least three people and wounding more than two dozen others.
• Pakistani Taliban claim bombing that killed 3 Americans
• And, in a news item that is stranger than a report from the Onion, "Stone pelting in Kashmir valley appears to be fast turning into a lucrative 'business' for some unemployed youths offering this 'service' for a price."
