There is a purpose to the liberal arts; they’re just a little dated. The goal of a college education is to provide a solid background for students to succeed. Unfortunately, unless colleges and universities augment core requirements, they’re continuously sending out students who are not ready to face the realities of an increasingly complex world. That is the conclusion of a thoughtful opinion piece by a junior at Vanderbilt. Of course, I agree with this; how could I not when I have expressed such opinions before!
