A night at a topless bar

If it were about me, then I would be describing how I attempted to do pullups while being topless on a summer night.  Perhaps this mental image has already scarred you for life, and no amount of therapy can restore you ever!

What else do you expect from a teetotaler whose daring adventures in the night might be to the kitchen in order to try vanilla ice cream with molasses.  (It is awesome though!)

Which is why "a night at a topless bar" isn't about me--there isn't anything "sexy" enough to attract attention.

Here in Oregon, a night at a topless bar has made political life hard for quite a few political stiffs:
[Former] House Republican Leader Kevin Cameron confirmed he abruptly stepped down last month, in part, because of a retaliatory threat that the public would find out about the night he and other GOP lawmakers -- including Wingard -- spent at a California topless bar.
A politician stepping down because he went to a topless bar?  When did this become a crime?  When did we become a theocracy where such activities merit stone throwing?  Something that doesn't agree with one's moral standards doesn't make it illegal, right?

If a 55-year old man wants to go look at a few breasts while drinking, that is much better than him screwing us taxpayers, I would think.  In fact, I would gladly send my representatives to brothels if that will keep them away from leading us into wars or messing up with my life.

But then the world isn't made of Srirams, for which the world is extremely thankful!  If everybody were like me, then there would be nobody to consume alcohol, or to tip topless women with singles and fives :)

Seriously, what is the big deal with an adult going to a legal business establishment and conducting a legally acceptable transaction?  I would assume he will have a tough time with his family, which is exactly where this belongs.  As a voter, I care not what the guy does to make himself happy, as long as those activities are legit.
the threat that someone would go public about the topless bar became too stressful.

This week Cameron and other lawmakers who went to Palm Springs just ahead of the Legislature's February session described the trip in nearly identical language: "a personal vacation with friends."

In addition to Hanna and Cameron, the entourage included Republican whip Tim Freeman, R-Roseburg; Rep. Vic Gilliam, R-Silverton; Rep. Matt Wand, R-Troutdale; and Rep. Patrick Sheehan, R-Clackamas.
If no taxpayer money was involved, then who cares even if these fab-five engaged in orgies!  What the heck is this obsession that politicians have to be saints?

A real scandal would be if there was anything illegal.  Or horribly scandalous like when it was revealed that former governor Neil Goldschmidt had had sexual relations with a minor, and that his inner circle had protected the story for years on.  Had this been public information, then the sleazeball would never have become a big time politician in the first place.

Something sexy for the slow news days of August, I suppose!

Ha ha ha. good one.
I agree. Usually it is the Dems who can't keep it zipped in - think President Clinton, Gov Spitzer n so on.
If Republican stiffs have woken up to the extent of actually making it to a topless bar, I'd say- the party yet has a chance of becoming fully alive :)
Enjoyed your writing.

Totally agree. Have no idea why this sort of puritanism is on the rise .

If only the world was full of Srirams .... :)
